Warhammer 40k stained glass

This was excellent fun. I have no experience with stained glass, so trying to work out how it works as to replicate the nuances of the medium was really interesting.

  1. Really sick work. I was looking to create some of these for my Shrine of the Aquila and here you've already done it. Very nice. If I may ask, you drew them up in pencil(or tablet?) and then filled in the glass areas with your chosen colours? Then added weathering effects etc? What was your system for managing your layers in Photoshop? Thanks!

    1. Ahoy Brian,

cheers for the kind feedback. I used photo shop for the whole process. I start with a line layer on a multiply setting, colour underneath. From there I used another multiple on top of the colour for the darker fade towards the border. Add another layer with dodge setting to add a very slight glow radiating from the middle of the panel. Add one more layer for cracks, dust etc. Hope this helps and good luck with your project. I found these to be heaps of fun.

  2. Hi,

These panels are amazing! Would you mind terribly if I used them for a dice tower I'm currently building? Will definitely credit you in the forums when it completed... Obviously!

  3. Thanks for the kind feedback. These unfortunately were done for a client so I don't actually have the right to give you permission to use them.... that said I'm sure no one will care as long as you don't sell it.

  4. Any chance you'd be willing to do something similar in the future? Or could these be purchased in higher resolution?
